2003-12-02 - 1:24 p.m.

Yesterday I went to the doctor to have a weird cyst in my hand examined. When I walked in, the receptionist was being berated by an angry patient over the phone. She kept apologizing and getting cut off. When she finally hung up, she complained to her coworker, saying, "God, what a jerk. That woman kept accusing us of ostracizing her." The coworker asked, "What�s �ostracizing?�" And the receptionist said, "It�s like you�re an ostrich, like you bury your head in the sand. You know, like, ignorance is bliss."

Thinking about this has been making me smile all day.
