Yay! Another Nerd Pride Event in my future: the LA Festival of Books at UCLA. Im mainly looking forward to Dave Eggers/ the "Can Independent Magazines Survive?" panel (even though my stack of unread issues of The Believer is a never-ending source of guilt) and Michael Shermer in the "Manufacturing Fear" panel.

Another cool thing: my workplace is sending me to Book Expo in Chicago in June. It was even cooler when there was a rumor that Clinton would be giving a talk, but no such luck. Just Larry Flynt and Gene Hackman. (I love Gene Hackman.)

My brain is achy from studying LSAT problems. Heres a sample LSAT problem:

Only an expert in some branch of psychology could understand why Patrick is behaving so irrationally. But no expert is certain of being able to solve someone else's problem. Patrick wants to devise a solution to his own behavioral problem. Which of the following conclusions can be drawn from the passage?

A. Patrick does not understand why he is behaving in this way.

B. Patrick is not an expert in psychology.

C. Patrick is not certain of being able to devise a solution to his own behavioral problem.

D. Unless Charles is an expert in some branch of psychology, Charles should not offer a solution to Patricks problem.

E. If Charles is certain of being able to solve Patricks behavioral problem, then Charles does not understand why Patrick is behaving in this way.

Grrr, Patrick.
